i'm not surprised at todays results to be honest. in my defense the first time i tried to do a fade was under waaaay different circumstances. please keep in mind this was very much pre-dog grooming days and i was working with shit for tools. i was about 15... wait... 13, had never used a pair of clippers in my life, was half in the bag and on top of that the pressure was fierce. first, the victim client, was headed to a super meaningful and important first date. second, time was tight. third, due to the lateness of the hour, hair places were not open. being the fabulous friend i am, i sprung into action and offered my quasi - albeit well meaning - services. i butchered the fuck out of his hair. even mid-process, i couldn't believe how bad it was coming out. but true to jh form, i stuck it through right to the bitter end. fearlessly, i watched that ship go down standing on the bow. one thing's for sure, no one will ever be able to say i didn't try. he freaked out bad, but really now, who thinks of their hair last minute when in preparation for a very serious outing that impressions matter for... and consider, hi, have we met... when i get enthusiastically cooperative with crazy eyes and shortness of breath you can bet your life i'm winging it just to see if it's a go in my world. besides, whatever, she ended up being a total bitch.

liar liar, pants on fire
damn it all. in my extreme excitement of finally being allowed to try a fade, i forgot all about the blog. oh f. well, the good news is that it came out really decent. the better news is that hair grows back so the chance of me pulling this stunt again is very likely. shit, he even said he's going to refer people to me. uh, yeah, i am now a full blown hair stylist with a growing client list. no biggie.

i have been wanting to practice cutting/styling human hair for quite some time. my neighbor john told me i can practice doing a fade on him. oh glory, tomorrow is going to be so awesome. and here i thought i was just going to be sitting around waiting for a package... last time i did a fade it came out not so great. i am feeling tomorrow big time though so i am going to stay optimistic and if he's not shy about it, i'll take before and after pictures for your viewing pleasure. you know you can't wait.

well well well... what have we here...
i can't run out of creamer for my coffee. i ran out of creamer for my coffee today. i'm psyched i remembered to get some before waking up tomorrow for the big first day of work and realizing it then. that was a close one. i am also psyched because sd found this dude in the back of the scion. the scion is now the butterfly box of doom.

after identifying that he's a freshly dead Gulf Fritillary or Passion Butterfly (Agraulis vanillae) i quickly googled how to preserve him and i am now setting his wings and antennas... the hard part is going to be finding something that shows both sides of him as the underside of his wings are far prettier than the tops... check it out...

side note... in my search for a frame i came across this chicks blog and i feel like she's mocking me with the color scheme and blog title and what have you... hello irony you big c... always a pleasure.
all shiny and silvery... which brings me to my next whoa check me out full of the information. does anyone remember the passion vine i was so proud of in az that started getting these cattapillars on it and i knew they were going to be beautiful but wasn't sure what kind of butterfly they would turn into... yeah, now i know. check it out...
off to bed. job in the morning and sister in the evening. must be fresh and alert.

cleverness is to be had up in this here dwelling
the magic of my side yard is becoming more apparent every single day. there is a swing and i use the hell out of it. i started using the dremel to shine and shape shells. i also started using it to drill into my fingers and i can't even begin to explain the discomfort that brings. the bad news is it went half way into my finger. the good news is it was a very tiny bit. the better news is, no blood. the bit was so hot it simply cauterized the wound on the way out. holy extreme pain batman. it's kind of a win considering the lack of blood and let's not forget that i rock transformer band aids with unabashed pleasure... more than meets the eye.
and now we all get to see where puncture wounds paired with a dremel and the great outdoors will get you... well, aside from less screaming and dust that is...

i know it doesn't look like much but let me tell you how serious shells are. they look so fragile don't they. well they now look like fragile liars to me. it took me a while to believe how strong they are. serious. those little barnacle dudes that eat holes in the shells get mad props from me now. whoa. i am going to take the dremel to places it never imagined possible. the next side yard dremel adventure includes shaping these hard little bastards into fun shapes like hearts. yeah, stopping me just isn't something you should consider... you'll just end up hurting yourself. or maybe i'll end up hurting myself. either way. bad.
i'm pretty sure totally forgot to post the blanket i finally finished up. i don't hate the way it came out but i'm not hugely happy. i just keep reminding myself it's my first blanket and it's gone now so i don't have to keep picking at it in hopes that will suddenly and magically turn into the incredible knitted vision that clouds my brain...

the tiny little hat brought me back around and i get a super huge kick out of how tiny baby heads are. you can palm them easier than a basket ball, but i don't recommend that unless you are into making mothers exceedingly nervous. offering to shake them gets the same result with the added bonus of being asked to stay away from the baby. i have no idea where the hat picture is. it was pink and white and had a pom pom on top made of tiny braids. yeah, bad ass right...
so i have very very limited room in this... room. i'm not complaining mind you. there is no complaining when it comes to living one block from the beach. to gain cabinet space i ripped off a little ks home decor idea and commenced lowes action which resulted in an awesome pan hanger. utilizing ceiling space is where it's at bitches. yes, those are plant hangers. yes that is just a metal bar. yes, those are hand made hooks. yes, i rule in a frugal shameless kind of way. to the right, note the chain of failure. s hooks are not as easy as they look when they keep snapping. to the left you'll note some more ks home decor enchantment and when pans are removed i suddenly turn into an indian convenience store clerk and start asking if that's all for today and would they like a bag. when i have incense burning it makes it picture perfect.

i no understand this punctuation words and explain i would like you do
i remain horrified at my keyboard and it's unending lack even though i do things like shake it, yell at it and blow it out with air. finding a new one is proving rather difficult since my laptop is an older model. this hasn't bothered me until now. i miss blogging. one because i have lots to say on a constant basis and two i have pictures. granted, they are phone pictures, but they're still worth a thousand words and aren't people supposed to be happy with what they are given or some such nonsense like that.
things are being made at a breakneck speed. even a road trip time out period reaped awesomeness. as much as it may seem so by the following pictures, my road trip was not to the ming dynasty... i now have a super glittery pagoda for birds to live in. or, as history has taught me, hornets. for some reason, every last bird house i have ever hung, has turned into a swarming, nasty, hornets nest. interesting, yes, but disappointing to say the least. staying forever optimistic, i have high hopes for this one.

and today. today i decided to buck the hell up and carve a bracelet i have been strung out over for weeks. i have a dremel and i am not afraid to use it on most occasions but i have yet to dremel something so tiny or so completed. fucking it up would ruin me. i call this DIE LITTLE FISH, DIE because i am an artist and a poet...

since i am super lazy tonight, that's all i am going to do for now. i'm sure i will be invigorated and ready for more some time in the near future.

sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone

good morning
i have finally broken the code to sending my phone pictures to my laptop. i get a little crazy sometimes and suddenly think i am a technological wonder. this time it reaped the non-benefits of locking myself out of my phone when regarding bluetooth. so that was neat. but we're back and i have about a million pictures to unload on you. this includes some of the ming dynasty...
i might even start sharing the sunrise with you on a morning basis. stay tuned, this is going to be so awesome.
